Updated: Aug 23, 2023

PrivCom is pleased to share this press release to announce our partnership with the Morality & Knowledge in Artificial Intelligence (MKAI) for Bermuda's first interactive AI workshop on Thursday, 26th January 2023.

MILTON KEYNES, UK – January 26, 2023 – MKAI.org (Morality and Knowledge in Artificial Intelligence) is pleased to announce a collaborative partnership with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (PrivCom) for Bermuda to bring the island’s first interactive online workshop on the topic: “AI in Bermuda: Are We Ready?”. This event is in conjunction with Data Privacy Week 2023, an initiative delivered by PrivCom.

AI in Bermuda: Are We Ready is a must-attend workshop to learn more about Artificial Intelligence and its applications in the business world. The workshop will assist businesses and organisations in understanding AI technologies and tools and how to implement them to become more efficient and competitive.

Many people still associate the terms "artificial intelligence" and "machine learning" with multi-million-dollar investments and lofty ideas of large corporations built and operated by teams of data scientists and engineers. However, MKAI is working to make AI more accessible, thereby democratising the technology surrounding it. AI is here, and many businesses are already reaping its benefits. - tangible tools that can help businesses become more effective and profitable.

Despite the availability and low cost of AI tools, decision-makers at SMEs are still grappling with how to incorporate AI into their business processes. In this first-of-its-kind workshop, industry experts will discuss with attendees how some of the many powerful and impactful AI tools can be implemented today in their companies.

The virtual workshop offers Entrepreneurs and small business leaders a unique chance to engage with leading minds in Artificial Intelligence, ask questions about how artificial intelligence tools and solutions may impact your business or sector, and gain the knowledge needed to prepare for the next wave of these technologies. There are breakout sessions for small group discussions and activities, supported by MKAI expert guidance.

Spaces are limited to RSVP today!

AI in Bermuda: Are We Ready is one of several events that PrivCom is hosting and supporting. Data Privacy Week is a global initiative, with nations worldwide pausing to raise awareness and empower individuals (from children to older persons) about information privacy, protection & security. The global theme for 2023 is “STOP. THINK. CONNECT.” PrivCom created the local theme, “We Hear You.” and has a full week of events to engage with every facet of the community in Bermuda. Data Privacy Week events will comprise the following:

● Monday (January 23): Data Privacy Hour – “Privacy Hour for Children & Teens”. From 10-11 am, students from Bermuda’s public, private and home-schools (nursery-age to secondary students) will engage in a range of age-appropriate activities (coloring and naming PrivCom’s turtle mascot to privacy-related stories, games and interactive animation and films) to learn more about data privacy, privacy choices to promote digital safety, and sharing information during positive (and negative) online interactions with others.

● Tuesday (January 24): Community Privacy Mastermind – Join PrivCom to dive into a range of topics that overlap with privacy, such as preparing for privacy careers during the looming recession, how privacy in Bermuda aligns with privacy best practices around the world, how Bermuda’s community can work together to protect individuals and businesses with privacy and what changes people should prepare for as PIPA comes into full operation in Spring 2023. This event is in partnership with the Economic Development Department (EDD).

● Wednesday (January 25): Seniors Privacy Tea Party – A sweet treat for older individuals to enjoy a special afternoon, sipping tea and sharing their thoughts on creative and clever ways to protect their personal information online and offline and to develop a privacy defense. This event is in partnership with the Economic Development Department (EDD) and the catering for the tea is hosted by the Royal Hamilton Dinghy Yacht Club.

● Thursday (January 26): AI in Bermuda: Are We Ready? – The interactive workshop with Morality and Knowledge in Artificial Intelligence (MKAI.org) will give Bermuda's entities of all sizes a better understanding of AI technologies and how intelligent & responsible AI can open the door to new opportunities. The event will be via Zoom and hosted by MKAI.

● Friday (January 27): Meeting of the Minds – Designed for non-profits, NGOs, and charities to share their thoughts, questions, best practices, and insights about privacy in the “hot seat” with like-minded individuals. Don’t let the term “hot seat” scare you – this is not a judgement seat – it is an opportunity for you to ask questions (or share thoughts) specific to your organisation. Ms. Jennifer Burland-Adams, Founder & CEO of Wavecrest, will welcome attendees.

PrivCom wishes to thank community partners: Ministry of Education, Ministry of Social Development and Seniors, Economic Development Department, Royal Hamilton Dinghy Yacht Club, Wavecrest, Inter Agency Committee for Children and Families, and our international partner, Morality & Knowledge in Artificial Intelligence (The Inclusive Artificial Intelligence Community) for joining our efforts for DPW 2023.
